I just wanted to let you all know that over the last few days, PoodLLers and Moodlers got two pieces of good news.
Why is that good news? Because it fixes the audio playback bug that hounded many good PoodLL’ers. Recent Flash Players would not play back audio only files recorded via Red5. Here at PoodLL HQ we did a little magic so that people who could use port 1935 avoided the problem. But now even that is not required. Upgrading to the latest flash player solves these problems. For those of you still locked from upgrading by IT Dept restrictions etc, rest assured. All the “magic” workarounds described on the troubleshooting page will still work.

Why is that good news? Well that is huge really. All the hype in yesterday’s Apple announcements focused on the retina displays, blah blah, and this little feature was glossed over. But believe me its a small update with big impact. This means that where we now show a Flash audio/video recorder , on iPhone/iPod/iPads we will show an upload audio/video button. So that opens the door for seamless audio/video recording within the Moodle page on Apple devices. There will be no need to kick off third party apps. That had been the next stop on our PoodLL roadmap, but journey just got a whole lot shorter.
The recording workflow for students accessing Moodle courses with mobile devices, will be almost identical to that of students on PCs. It also means that PoodLL will be almost 100% usable on mobile devices.
