Well, its almost ready. The latest Mobile Safari on iOS6 added file upload capability. We have used that in PoodLL to implement HTML5 recording, on iOS 6 devices. There is no need to install any other apps. Wherever there would be a PoodLL recorder, camera or whiteboard, on mobile devices there is now a file upload button. If the student taps that, they can take a video or picture straight from their device. It will be uploaded to Moodle, and return them to the original page.
It even works for audio recording. The student records their voice while taking a video. When we display it in PoodLL we just load the video file in an audio player.
We hope to release it next week, but in the meantime it is working on the PoodLL demo site. Once you have logged in (the demo login details are on the top page), you might try out the video recording assignment.
Head over there and try it out on your iOS6 ipad or iphone. If you have an android device, which I don’t, please try it out and report back here. I’d love to know how it goes.
