This last weekend I was up in Tokyo at the 5th annual Moodle Moot. It was really great to meet Moodlers from all over Japan. So much has been happening behind the scenes with me, PoodLL and Moodle, but to actually meet people and hear their stories and see what they are doing was really inspiring.
Thom Rawson, Luc Loosveldt, John C Herbert, Elton LaClare and I had a long discussion about the speed reading module and came away with a lot of clarity. Its really exciting and I will post back here in the next few weeks with more details on that project.
Also after quite a few Skype calls and emails, I finally was able to meet Alan Schwartz from English Central in person. It got a bit blurry after all the 40 somethings drank Tequila in a Mexican restaurant, but I do know Alan has some interesting projects in the pipeline. So I am hoping we can work together on some of those.
In other Moodle goings on, I presented on PoodLL twice. The second time we were in a beautiful CALL room, with cameras on every PC. We sparked up PoodLL pairwork and had some video conversations, did audio recording and put PoodLL through its paces. I think it went pretty well. A big thanks to Michael De Raadt from Moodle HQ, and Hideto Harashima from Moodle Japan for staying the whole time. Both of them were very busy people during the Moot so I was happy they took the time to stay.
Well there was so much to see and so many people to talk to , that when it was all over I realised I did not have even a single photo. Just this mug cup I won for my contribution to Don Hinkelman’s awesome community hub project. So here it is.
