Well we have been tweaking and fiddling with the new server, and have decided to run it in parallel for a month or so with tokyo.poodll.com .
Initially I said that the new server should not really be considered for production sites, because it occasionally failed to return recordings to Moodle. That now however seems to be fixed. For the record, I used the latest version of Red5 1.0.2. I tried several versions prior to that because I wanted to take advantage of some of the features added since version 0.8. The latest release turned out to to be the most stable. It did however require me to make changes to the PoodLL web application and recompile it. My own tests on it look pretty good, so I am interested in how others find it.
The load on tokyo.poodll.com has eased a fair bit, as people updated their courses to use the PoodLL MP3 recorder instead of server based recording. It has been stable for nearly a week now.
Anyway to use the new server, in place of tokyo.poodll.com in your PoodLL filter settings, enter this ip address
54.238.50.26
As in the screenshot …
For the most part you won’t notice the difference between the current server and this one. And that is how it should be …
If you do notice anything however please get in touch. Thanks.
