I loved sliderocket and used it for all my presentations. I even made a little filter string that PoodLL’ers could use to embed SlideRocket presentations conveniently into Moodle. It was intuitive, integrated with Google Apps, had nice animations, good fonts, and an awesome online editor. And the best, all the presentations worked in HTML5. It was better than YouTube because it had everything that YouTube had, but users could interact with the content, ie go back and forward slides, click on links , edit/refine it later etc. I even upgraded to Pro for a while when I needed it. But went back down to ‘lite’ when I no longer needed all the features.
I was always worried about the “lock-in” ie you can’t take your presentations elsewhere. But I thought, “nah, something this good won’t die.” Then I got this high handed “we don’t need you anymore, get the heck off our ship” letter this morning. I appreciate the situation, its a hassle for me, but that’s life. But seriously, the letter is a bit gruff isn’t it? And think of all those users they are just casting aside …
